As Chapter Co-Chair for SCORE Philadelphia, Mary is dedicated to helping small businesses receive the support and resources they need to launch or sustain a viable business. "I am committed to creating a sustainable chapter of volunteers who enjoy serving the small business community in Philadelphia."
She has been involved with SCORE since 2006, working with 3 past Chapter Chairs serving as Vice President of Client Services and Vice President of Education. She is president and founder of M. Livingston Group, a human resources consultancy and training company founded in 2000. She provides human resources services primarily to small companies and is a national trainer facilitating a wide range topics to enhance bottom-line results for today’s workplace. She was formerly the Human Resources Director for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group and the Program Director for the Maynard Institute’s management program, which was held annually at the Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Mary is on the Board of the Philadelphia Tribune and the Walnut Hill Community Association; a member of the Society of Human Resources (SHRM), National Association of African American Human Resources (NAAAHR). Past services and memberships include the National Association of Minority Media Executives (NAMME), Toastmasters International.
As Chapter Co-Chair of SCORE Philadelphia, Jack is excited by the opportunity to help business owners and entrepreneurs receive the support and resources they need to launch or sustain a viable business. "I am committed to working with SCORE’s team of volunteers to deliver valuable assistance to the small business community in Philadelphia." New to SCORE, Jack brings more than forty-five years of leadership in information technology (IT) and international management consulting. He hopes his experience establishing and managing consulting practices should prove especially valuable to SCORE.
Born in Yakima, Washington, raised on the Gulf Coast of Texas and educated at the University of Texas, he began his career as a programmer at NASA during the man-on-the-moon program. He served as a developer, systems analyst, project manager and department manager, focusing on designing and implementing applications for general accounting, vendor payments, human resources, payroll and lease accounting. After ten years in corporate IT, Jack shifted to management consulting, building a team to assist clients with IT assessment, planning and strategy. For the last 20 years, as a free-lance consultant, his most relevant engagements included: serving as interim director for a worldwide consulting practice where he implemented standard service offerings, job descriptions, team reviews and compensation plans; and performing due-diligence reviews of India-based outsourced operations, focused on assessing risk and analyzing controls.
Jack received a BBA in Statistics from the University of Texas in Austin in 1969 and completed Wharton’s Advanced Management Program in 1986. He qualified as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) in 1990, became a a Certified Project Manager in 1987 and was Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) in 2010. Before moving to Philadelphia, Jack lived in Texas, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Oregon and Massachusetts, where he served on the Planning Board in Great Barrington, MA for 10 years.
Chair, Client Engagement Committee
Growing up in New York City as a child of immigrants, Karen’s extended family worked in or ran small businesses. She experienced first-hand the pride, hard work, dedication, and struggles. SCORE enables Karen to help small business owners realize their dreams by providing support and guidance. She joined SCORE in early 2022.
Karen began her career in human resources at American Express, then moved to Boston where she joined KPMG and later Mercer as a consultant. She focused her consulting on non-profit organizations, including higher education and healthcare. She recently retired from Mercer as a partner in charge of their higher education consulting practice.
Karen loves to keep busy and be involved. She is an independent consulting focusing on small non-profit clients and enjoys watercolor painting, travel, yoga, gardening and visiting her daughters in California and Massachusetts. /
Karen earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Boston University.
Lizabeth (Liz) Galantino
Chair, Public Relations Committee
Liz joined SCORE Philadelphia in May 2020 and is chair of the public relations committee, responsible for creating and implementing external public relations and communications. She obtained her Master's degree in Communications/Public Relations from Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Albright College, Reading, PA.
Liz brings more than 25 years of experience in producing and implementing strategic and tactical planning, procedures, activities and events for the marketing and promotion of B2B, B2C, non-profit and association-based organizations. She has worked for small- and family-owned businesses, up to and including Fortune 100 companies, whereby holding tenures in such areas as operations, marketing, communications and public relations. Liz currently works with Malvern-based Conferences Connect and Chaddsford-based Chaddsford Winery, and she has also completed Wine Fundamentals Level I & II through the International Sommelier Guild. Her favorite style of wine is sparkling!
Chair, Communications Committee
Don brings more than 45 years of information technology (IT) and consulting experience to SCORE. After receiving his Master's degree he worked in Washington, DC as a project manager for a management consulting firm. Some of his projects included an electronic funds transfer system for the US Treasury and portfolio management systems for clients such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. He then moved to Philadelphia to become Director of Product Development for a startup company that made computer hardware. For the last 30 years he was an independent consultant, providing systems analysis, systems design, and software development resources for a wide variety of projects, including solar renewable energy certificates, on-line rebate processing, call center support, point-of-sale systems, and clinical drug trial scheduling.
Don received an MS in Management Science from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT.
