Cybersoft Operating Corporation, Peter Radatti
Cybersoft Operating Corporation is the child of Cybersoft, Inc., the holder of the intellectual property for the company. Cybersoft was founded in 1988 by Peter Radatti. As a participant in the early Internet known as ARPANet, which was funded by the Defense Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency, it was natural for Radatti to become a supplier to the US military. Cybersoft developed a suite of tools providing computer security for computers using the UNIX operating system. Since UNIX computers were preferred by Military Intelligence Services, Cybersoft’s business grew rapidly serving the US military as well as the militaries in Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Cybersoft’s sales increased to over $1 million, enjoying widespread success as a premier provider of key anti-virus and cryptographic baseline management software. With a staff that grew to fifteen people and a need for space, Cybersoft expanded its operations by acquiring a 10,000-square-foot building in Conshohocken. Cybersoft provided its customers not only with software but also with ongoing technical support and product updates. Over the years, as Radatti handed over the management of Cybersoft to others, the company began to experience a gradual decline in business. By 2015, Cybersoft was six months from declaring bankruptcy. So, Radatti retook the reins of Cybersoft and reorganized the company.
Also in 2015, Radatti contacted SCORE for guidance and was assigned mentors Alan Vinick and Phil Macero. With a wealth of experience, Vinick and Macero set out to understand Cybersoft’s situation and together with Radatti evaluated the needs of his company. Early on in this process, the SCORE mentors recognized a need for proper financial accounting and recommended hiring a Financial Analyst. With connections to the people and students at Villanova and Temple Universities, the SCORE mentors assisted Radatti in hiring a Financial Analyst who reviewed the company’s operating expenses and purged out corrupted financial information. In addition, Cybersoft consolidated its computer systems and servers to an operating space of 2,000 square feet. This allowed Cybersoft to lease out the remaining 8,000 square feet to others. Within a year, Cybersoft had turned itself around and became profitable again. SCORE mentors Vinick and Macero continue to assist Radatti in hiring key personnel and planning his future vision as Cybersoft continues to increase sales by expanding its customer base.
